Mason Hospital Update 11/5 Part II

Well we had a big setback today but hopefully we are on track to getting definitive treatment.  I suggested this a.m that we perform another ultrasound to see if the previous fluid collection they saw had gotten any better or worse since his swelling had not improved.  The ultrasound showed a complex abscess, twice as large as it was when they first did the ultrasound on thursday.  His temps had been trending down somewhat, but this afternoon he spiked fever to 103.

The surgery team is not willing to try to operate because they don't feel comfortable with the swelling being close to his male parts, thus they deferred to urology.  The attending urologist could not see him today but plans are for tomorrow he will have a CT scan of his pelvis to try to further characterize the fluid collection and the urologist is supposed to see him after the scan.

We are praying that specifically he will be able to get surgery tomorrow to drain the abscess- please do the same.  I really do believe if they can just get to the abscess and drain it, he will turn around fast and be on the mend quickly.  Thank you again for your prayers and we will keep you updated as we know more tomorrow.
