Mason Hospital Update 11/5

Hey guys, Preston here again.  Mason's fevers have been trending down for the last 24 hours!  He still is having some low grade temps but not as high as the last few days.  The redness of the infection is improving, but the swelling and firmness has still not improved so we are going to go for another ultrasound today and double check to make sure an abscess has not developed.  They didn't find one the other day in the operating room, but sometimes if you try to drain one too early you won't get anything out.  Same principle is if you tried to pop a zit too soon- you don't get any pus out- but if you wait a day or two, you can pop that thing and pus squirts out all over the mirror (sorry to be so graphic).   If there is no definite abscess then the plan is to go home today on oral antibiotics and just watch him closely the next few days.  If there is an abscess, then they would maybe drain it today or first thing tomorrow- not really sure what the timeline would be for going home if that were the case.  But for now, it is not looking like we are going to have to start Vancomycin.  However, we are cautiously optimistic at this point and are just hoping and praying he continues to improve.

We thank everybody for all your continued prayer support!  Mason is feeling those prayers.
